Like the title says. Some music tags are being removed. Not all of them, genres and country seem to remain, but style, moods, and similar artists are completely blank.
I haven’t changed any settings. The music that has been on for more than a week seem to have all the info, but if I refresh the metadata it disappears. All of the general info remains, as well as concert info. I hope this can get resolved as I use artist radio a lot and when there are no similar artist then there’s no artist radio.
Yes, I am seeing this also. Similar Artists tags are NOT being populated. So artist radio is gone. I finally get my music collection working the way I want and POOF they go and break it. So frustrating!
Plexamp seems to be working okay, the only problem I’m seeing is when I play “artist radio” it’s playing the same songs. Is this part of the same bug? Or is this something different?
I wish the Plex development team would stop pushing half baked concepts. In our company those ideas stay on the test servers until they are ready for prime time. I have been waiting a long time to migrate my music collection into Plex. After the May 2020 update I began that process. The first time around everything went smoothly. Then in August I added 2 albums and the library got completely messed up everything, tracks from Beatles were matched with various artist, etc, etc. After the painful reload I found most of the tag data missing. If this is a dropped feature you might want to announce it.
Rather than copy/pasting what I wrote in another topic about this same issue, allow me to link my response instead:
@rebelworks it sounds like you’re hitting up against a separate issue, documented in Plex’s official Music Folder Structure support page. Specifically, make sure any tracks that are part of albums supposed to be under Various Artists have the correct embedded album artist tags (literally ‘Various Artists’, and nothing else).
You can use a program like MusicBrainz Picard to clean up your embedded tags, and then a library refresh should resolve the problem. If you continue to experience it though, open up a new topic with as much information as possible!
