Is there a way to add a functionality in which we can edit media tags if they are listed in according to folder? It would be easier for me as I arrange my media by folder. Sometimes, a folder contains unrelated media but I would like to put them in the same album for example and it would be nifty if I am able to edit the tags while in the Folder listing. Thanks!
You can display your media in folder view. If you tell Plex to use e.g. embedded metadata, this should pretty much cover what you’re describing (or at least what I understand you’re asking for)
Yes media can be displayed in folder view but its not pretty to look at. What im wanting is for the folder view to have options to edit metadata in the folder view. Currently a folder with different mp3 files, each with separate metadata can only be edited together if you are in library view, choose these individual files and combine these files in a single album… then you can create the new metadata for the new album you created. Imagine if you have thousands of folders like that… it will take forever to do that for how you want your files to look like in the library view. What I’m asking is the same capability of editing metadata while in folder view.
Have you considered actually using the regular library view and group those “non-album structures” using collections? From what you describe you want to manage folders that aren’t really albums like albums when it comes to managing their metadata.
Why not just use actual albums for that?
Its actually in a library like that but there too many that does not show proper tags. Its all jumbled and it will take forever to sort thousands and thousands of tracks using that. The only way i can do it properly and easily is by doing it through folder view.
Im just saying, it was easier to create my music library using other programs in the past like itunes, etc. Hopefully plex will develop their music library capabilities. Although i see no benefit for them as they are in partnership with tidal.

Also of note, Plex seems to have stopped improving the server… we barely get any new updates. Lots of bugs still.
What makes you think that?
This is just the releases of the last 3+ months… and that’s including the holiday / end-of-the-year season where usually little gets done
