I have a small number of folders which are like file system organised ‘libraries’ of music - for example I separate hi-res album rips from other albums, a separate folder for DJ tracks and another for radio show rips.
I’d like to be able to view these either as an entire collection (all music in all folders), or to filter the collection to one of these folders, but otherwise keep everything the same. That is, filter on ‘folder’ or location in the same places and way you can filter on artist name or rating.
I know I can view by folder but that doesn’t give the nice ‘metadata’ view, but a folder hierarchy, so it’s fine for navigating but not much else.
I also know I can add each folder as a separate Plex library, but then I can’t see everything together.
So my request is, and apologies if I’m not using the correct terminology, but to be able to filter on the folder/location in the same places as filtering by artist and so on.
That would then mean I could create a smart playlist so that I have a permanent and dynamic metadata view of each of the physical libraries.
