So I use HomeAssistant and there is a fantastic new AddOn called MusicAssistant. One of the providers can be Plex. Unfortunately, this is not currently “supported”.
One thing with MusicAssistant is that I see a LOT of the growing pains that Plex has already solved, regarding tagging and metadata with local file systems providers. MA works great, but the UI, and metatdata leaves a LOT to be desired
Anyways, its a cool product, and maybe if you have never checked out Home Assistant you may want to. What I am really hoping is that posting here will bring some awareness and maybe the Plex team could work with the MA team somehow. (no idea how, or what that would mean, wistful thinking) .
