My media disappeared

Hi all,

I started using Plex a couple of years ago as a very basic user (which I still am). Just downloaded it in my Win7 PC, used the wizard that ran after starting Plex in my computer, set up a couple of folders and then donwloaded Plex on my TV to use those folders from my PC.

It all worked perfectly up until today. Yesterday, I successfully watched some content through Plex on my TV as usual, but today I have found that my folders no longer show on Plex whether on the TV or on the PC, most of the settings in the web app have disappeared and I can no longer manage my media because I get a message saying that I need to install Plex Media Server (which of course is installed since that’s how I access Plex in my computer). You can check screenshots below from my settings screen, and from the home screen in the web app (where at least I can click on My media to be told that PMS isn’t installed) and if I access it from the “Open Plex…” option in PMS’s menu (where My media doesn’t even appear).

I already did the only thing that I could think of, which was uninstalling Plex in my PC and TV and then installing it again, but it hasn’t solved anything and it didn’t even prompt the wizard to run after the fresh install.

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Did you by chance sign-out your server from your Plex account?
Those screenshots look less like your media is gone but you lost access to the actual server.

Thank you!! Since I hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary after watching content yesterday, I had no clue about what the issue might be or why it had happened.

I was apprehensive about modifying the registry, but the problem was solved after following the steps in that article
