I’ve recently gone through some changes in my setup regarding my network. At the same time, I ran updates on almost everything I have, PC, PI4, etc… to ensure they all were in the best working order. After getting everything updated, and configured (I was mostly having router issues and set up a PFsense unit using my backup Ryzen5 setup) I wanted to sit and watch a movie. To my dismay, I was unable to watch the movie I selected. I tried a few different movies in my library and kept running into issues playing my 4k movies. I had originally thought the issue would be related to my PFsense somehow, due to it being the largest change in my topology. However, after much troubleshooting, I’m now under the impression that the most recent change in versions of PMS, for some reason the ability to play 4k content has degraded. My PMS is running on a RaspberryPi 4, and until the update streamed all of the movies I tested with no issue. I looked and thought maybe, just maybe, my system might be trying to use the newer feature of Relay for some unknown reason. I disabled Relay just to test it out and no change, so I’m trying to discover why, suddenly, my RPi4 is not capable of performing a streaming task that it was able to just a couple of weeks ago, with the only notable change being the software version.
I take it some change to your setup has degraded the ability to direct play your 4K content. That’s most likely a limiting factor as I consider the RPi4 is most certainly not capable to transcode 4K content.
What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard?
I have transcoding video disabled currently for troubleshooting. The only thing that has changed, from it being able to fully support my media library to now is it has been updated to the new version of PMS. That update was also a big enough change that I couldn’t just update it, the software required a manual install.

Did you have the same playback issues when playing Bad Boy for Life? (as it seems to play without transcoding)
Yes, that’s what I’m saying, with or without transcoding, Direct Play or otherwise the stream will load but buffers every 5 to 30 seconds on anything 4k. I watched this same file, same setup entirely in the home streaming to our chromecast all hardwired network btw and after the update to Plex it now can’t stream with any stability files that are 4k.
