This server is not powerful enough to convert video

Now, before you tell me that it’s my processor, I used to play most 4k movies, via direct play, just fine. It’s only been since the last update that nothing will work, I cannot play 4k at all, what changed and why did they break it ? ?

Did you turn on the option to disable transcoding?

I did indeed, I’ve been playing 4k for some time, I’ve only had the problem since the last update, thats whats baffling . .

If you are using PMP, that should not need most things transcoded. The only time PMP would need something transcoded is if you set the quality setting lower than the video.

It was the Plex Media Server for Windows, since the last update, it stopped playing 4k.

I installed Plex for Windows, which I’ve never used before, and it plays the same movies just fine.

You don’t play videos with Plex Media Server. Do you mean the Plex Web client which is used to manage your server? Plex Web does not support 4K video.

You tagged this thread with Plex Media Player, which is a specific Plex client, it is not a generic terms for all things Plex.
