My Plex on windows now takes 25 seconds to load. Why?

Server Version#:
Player Version#: 1.34.1.2590-74ea7099
Just the other day, Plex on my windows PC started getting slow to load. It takes almost 30 seconds for it to load. Then when I go to anything it seems to be slow to respond. What have I done that has caused this.
My PC is new, 6 core and fast and powerful, with an abundance of ram etc. I’m sure it is user error, but what?

You’ve done nothing wrong. Just a bad bug. Plex is aware of the issue and are looking into it to my understanding.

That’s good news, but also bad news I guess. Thanks.

Apparently you removed your server ~5 days ago from your account, then created a new server instance with the same “friendly name”.
While this may appear to you as if nothing changed, but for your Plex clients it is a new “server” nonetheless – even though it bears the same name as the old server.

Currently, your side bar still contains links to the old server instance.
So the client app is trying to access this no-longer-existing server first, but will ultimately fail to do so.
That’s what causes the big delay.

To fix that, you’ll have to remove all items from your side bar which are still pointing to your old server and replace them with items from your current server instance.
But it is faster if you instead perform the first-time home page and side-bar setup again.
You’ll need to do this on every client separately:

In the web app and Plex for Windows you go to
Settings - Plex (Web/for Windows) - General - ‘Show Advanced’
“Reset Customization”

Thanks. I think that worked. Have a great day.
