So I’m heading off to the south of France for 3 while weeks, no internet access, no problem. I dig our my trusty MyPassport wireless pro and transfer all my optimised content over, make sure Plex is up to date and all the metadata is synced leap in the car and we are good to go…
Now reality bites…I use Plex home to manage my kids access. Based on past experience I keep the MyPassport Plex server unclaimed.
I am sitting here for the umpteenth time this weekend with my son’s android tablet, connected directly to the MyPassport WiFi trying to figure out why it is telling me that MyPassport is offline at exactly the same instant that son number 2 is streaming content from it to his iPad over the same connection.
on my MacBook, I can access the web ui on the passport and play movies. If I fire up the latest version of Plex media player it does not even see the my passport server.
The only way I seem to be able to get some level of access is to connect the Passport to an internet connection, access is possible, but not from everywhere, whilst passport is online and for a while thereafter and then we are back to sever offline.
I’m ready to chuck the hardware out the window and post a long rant on the Plex forums…whoops!!!
What the blazes is going on here I am connected directly to the server and the Plex client is telling me it’s offline
Arghhhhh!!!
