MyPlex Tab

Interesting, but... Adding all theses checks, would Plexconnect become slower ?

I guess this processes will be on the computer so i think not. But let's wait for Baa :)

I think having Shared Libraries appear only when logged into MyPlex would be enough. I don't see the need to make hiding/showing universal.

That said, one way to avoid slow downs due to too many checks is to have showing/hiding the Channels and Shared Libraries tabs both be a preference in Settings.

Does logging into MyPlex (or I guess just "Plex" now) provide anything other than shared libraries in PlexConnect? If not, will it ever?

If there's ever any other benefit to it, then there will be a reason for people to sign in, even if they don't have any shared libraries. And in that case, the empty top-level section should be hidden for them, too.

Well, you need to log in when your local PMS needs authentication...

Plus there is this queue thing.

Here is a workaround I use for the time being. I hope they make this optional in the future as well ;)

Thanks to Roidy for adding in the hiding of “Shared Libraries” when not logged into MyPlex. One less manual edit to make! Cheers.

For clarity: it will show empty if you are signed in but servers shared with you are not online; this is by design.

No, er... The crazy part is suggesting that the solution to an empty Channels section is to add channels. Those of us with empty channels sections — and maybe I'm going out on a limb here — have them empty because we don't want any channels, not because we can't figure out how to add them.

Totally agree with this, I don't use Shared Libraries nor Channels and it just confuses my mother what they're for. Even though I tell her not to worry about them.

Just the option to turn them off for me would be great. I don't need them to autohide and show based on data.

I like the new implementation of "refresh", by the way. Very elegant.

why/where don't I see this ?

Just click and hold on library section name

Institute11 got a quick question for you. The new code to remove the "Shared Library" entry, when you now sign in or out of myPlex in order for the Navigaton Bar to update it exits straight out of the settings page. Do you have a problem with this behavior?

Hi Roidy,

I think that makes sense as it gives you feedback as to what happened by showing you the main page with or without the Shared libraries.

Ok thanks.

It might make sense to kick you to the top... but it doesn't seem right, does it?

The feedback has always been given in the settings page. You had a "Sign In" button if you weren't in. You had the "Sign Out" button if you were signed in - with a note of the actual user logged in.

If the NavBar needs a change, it should change in place... - my opinion. :-(

changing in place would be sexy.

It could be considered the way apple did it for show/hide icons on the homescreen, perhaps this gives a bit more flexibility whether to display the channels/myplex/library.

Another way could be to control it via settings.cfg - it is not something that an end-user will change on a daily basis (or monthly even), same goes for signing in to myplex.

although it looks nice to do it on the atv, it takes me minutes to sign in with a remote. Then include an option to restart PlexConnect via the settings on the ATV.

Settings.cfg contains global PlexConnect settings, ATVSettings.cfg is aTV centric. You can't just move one option to the other file, they really serve different purposes.
