MyPlex Tab

Hello,

I'm just wondering : Is it possible to merge the MyPlex Tab in the Library Tab ? Because I don't have a local PMS and I have to go to the MyPlex tab.
This would be great.

Just one more thing : THANK YOU for MyPlex integration !!! Now you just need a GUI and PlexConnect is gonna be in final version.

I'm a French student, sorry for my bad English.

All the best,

A.

Edit : Sorry for the title which is already used

The trouble with this is, that accessing MyPlex typically needs longer than the local server/s.

There might be other solutions, like hiding stuff that isn't used... there is no decision made yet.

I like "Shared Libraries" better than MyPlex but I still would like to make the case that it should be hidden unless you are logged into MyPlex. After all, you can't see anything there until you log in to MyPlex, so you would have to know to do this anyway.

+1 Can be nice :)

I like the new implementation of “refresh”, by the way. Very elegant.

What do you mean? Signing in is just one time ..

He basically says: The "MyPlex" or nowadays "Shares Libraries" Tab should't be visible if NOT signed in...

His point is for those who do not use MyPlex functionality on the ATV (they may still on other devices eg mobile devices).

Got it now. Thanks. So he is basically right :)

If I may be a bit more particular: If you're going to auto-hide Shared Libraries, it should hide when there aren't any shared libraries to show, not just when you're not signed in.

Yes, sure. The "design police" is never wrong.

True

Yes, true as well.

But... based on that we would have to remove Library, Channels, basically each section within your PMS if it's empty.

I don't think it is feasible to always have to check one level deeper than you want to display...

If you extend the notion to its logical extreme, sure. But I don't think that'd be necessary — shared libraries are a very specific chunk of the hierarchy that are likely going to be empty for a vast majority of users. If it's not technically reasonable to do a check for their presence whenever you hit the top level, then that's fair, but I don't think it needs to go any further than that.

(Although I'd argue that Channels also shouldn't be visible if there aren't any installed...)

Don’t know if I agree with the idea that Channels should be hidden. If their are no channels in the tab it would probably encourage you to look for some and install them on your PMS which is rather easy to do. It is not easy to gain access to a a shared library if you don’t know any other Plex users.

This is possibly the craziest thing I've heard so far in 2014. :)

Really? There is a Channel Directory built into PMS. How could it be easier?

No, er... The crazy part is suggesting that the solution to an empty Channels section is to add channels. Those of us with empty channels sections — and maybe I'm going out on a limb here — have them empty because we don't want any channels, not because we can't figure out how to add them.

Sure, I can see that. If you have some anathema to channels I can understand why you wouldn’t want to see the section.

Interesting, but... Adding all theses checks, would Plexconnect become slower ?
