Naming convention for original tv series

I have bought and ripped the original “Lost in Space” TV series that aired in 1965. When i loaded it into Plex, it mapped it to the 2018 version. What do I need to name the files so that Plex maps them to the 1965 version correctly? Thanks!

BTW, currently the files are named like: Lost in Space - s1 e1

If you add the year to the Show folder that’ll help. You can also add the exact TMDB or IMDB reference to it as well. https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ - a few notes on both of those options there.

In PlexWeb you can do “fix match” on the show and select the correct listing as well.

Here’s how I did it:

Notice the parent folder has the TVDB ID in it. Helps matching a lot.

The [DVD] is a source tag that I put on them. Anything in square brackets should be ignored.

Read up on the Support Articles for naming movies and TV. They are super helpful. If you organize and name your files “the Plex way” life with Plex will be easier. I haven’t had to look at the Fix Match window in forever. Or do the Plex dance.

Good luck,

Chris

Thank you both for the information. Plex now knows it is the old series. I have a lot of work a head of me reorganizing my tv shows! Thanks again!

If you really have a lot, take a look at Filebot.
It takes most of the pain away.
