I have gone through the naming movies page multiple times. Plex is not registering any of my:
A Nightmare on Elm Streets movies.
I have copied the titles directly from the movie database site with the year and Plex will still not acknowledge them.
Any ideas?
If you rename them in-place after Plex hasn’t matched them, it will be harder to make them match. It retains a ‘fingerprint’ of the file. This is what’s used to detect duplicates.
To clear this, perform the ‘Plex Dance’ (move out, update library, empty trash, clean bundles, rename the file (I suggest FileBot or TheRenamer to make it perfect since it does the lookup for you), move back in place, Update library)
If your files are in mp4 / m4v file format, there may be also the problem of an embedded bogus ‘Title’ metatag.
Before Plex Dance’ing the movies, make the following adjustment to the agent settings:
Go to
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
and
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
In both places, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Adjusting the agents didn’t help, in a way I did the Plex dance but deleted the library and reinstalled it. That worked just fine.
