Hi,
I was wondering if someone has a suggestion for naming of LOTR editions… I have the 3 films ripped as both theatrical and extended editions/versions
I use a Zidoo Z9 as my main player in the cinema room but I use ATV and Plex in my other TV rooms. So I have named the movies according to Zidoo’s naming convention:

The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) (1#Theatrical Version)
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) (2#Extended Version)

My understanding is that Plex would need to use naming that contains something like {edition-xxx}
And that would mess things up in the cinema… Any ideas how I could make this work for both scenarios? Would info files be an option?

Thanks in advance. I realize that this is a bit out of scope but… :slight_smile:

This is the only way https://support.plex.tv/articles/multiple-editions/

Plex doesn’t use .nfo files.

The alternative would be to leave everything as-is and use the “Play Version” command in Plex.
You can’t have both, unless you go to great lengths and use symbolic links/hardlinks to create a completely separate folder structure and file names for the affected movies.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that this would be the case. I tried the play version option. IT was just a bit weird because it asked if I wanted to play the 50 Mb/s or 70 Mb/s bitrate version :slight_smile: So something a bit more descriptive would be great :wink:
Anyway: I will probably always watch LOTR in the cinema room anyway so…
