Some additional info…
Using the TheTVDB.com ID isn’t in the Plex docs, but it works. It is mentioned in other threads, which is how I found out about it.
The other thing you’ll notice is that the different Agents return different results.
Using the TheTVDB agent returns just the 1992 animated series, using default search parameters. It will find the 1964 series, but you have to change parameters, such as using the series ID.
The Movie Database agent returns more hits, listing four versions of the show. No need to search with show ID, etc.
It is not always the case that The Movie Database returns more hits. You may see different results with other shows.
Also, this will all change in the future. Plex is re-writing the TV show search/match capability. The new agent should be much better at matching. It will also have the option to include TheTVDB IDs in the folder/file names. The new agent is in beta. Details: New Plex Media Server TV show/series scanner and agent preview.
