National characters in movie title = no artwork

I have only problem left to solve... All my movies that contains common characters, A-Z and 0-, is working perfectly. On the other hand, movies with national characters does not show any artwork. On each and every one of them I have to manually change poster and browse to the corresponding artwork. Its too much work!

CONFIGURATION/SETUP

- One folder containing both movies and corresponding artwork

- Using Movie Scanner and PersonalMedia/LocalMedia Agent

Working movies and artwork are named like:

- "Superman 1 (1978).mkv"

- "Superman 1 (1978).jpg"

Not working filenames are containing Swedish letters like "å" "ä" "ö" "Å" "Ä" "Ö":

- "Ett oanständigt förslag (1993).mkv"

- "Ett oanständigt förslag (1993).jpg"

I also have french movies with titles containing "à" "é" that doesnt work either.

Is there something I could change/add in the LocalMedia script that will correct this?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

have exact same problem.

Any suggestions?

It has been a longstanding problem that special characters aren't supported and this will hold Plex back in international adoption.

The only solution at this point is to just use the unaccented characters (o instead if ö) in the filenames.

A bulk renaming program is your best friend when you have a big library.

I use http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php under Windows.

Where does the problem really exist? In python, in the database or....?

I understand that there might be more urgent matters to fix or tune in Plex Server, but not one person seems to have the knowledge to point me in the right direction how to address this problem on my own.

I understand that you can make it work by renaming titles but I think its better to address the problem instead of doing workarounds.

Anyone with knowledge what the problem really is, please respond.

Thank you.
