Yamaha receivers have the support to switch inputs to “Spotify” and “Server” (DLNA) , and “Pandora” , but are missing the direct capability to stream from Plex servers. Can you guys work with Yamaha to add this in ? With a firmware update then, all Yamaha receivers would get the music at a minimum (that would be sweet alone) – and at best the video delivery too !

Yes, however, the problem is that the networks are like this :
Plex Server → Router → Internet → Destination Router → ( ?? ) → Yamaha Receiver → Speakers
I can do the DLNA routing from router 1 to router 2, but that’s not super portable, or scalable. The hope was that the receiver could act as client in some way. Thoughts ?
DLNA is designed to work on local networks. If you have the skills you could try connecting the locations through a VPN tunnel and allow broadcast packets to cross the tunnel. This way your receiver will be able to find the remote server as if it’s local.
Yes, this is why I mentioned ‘hooking’ together router1 and 2 was possible, but the solution is not portable, nor scalable…
