Navigating to play episodes has extra step

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I honestly couldn’t even think of the proper terminology to search for this topic, let alone for the title of the thread.

I stream to an Apple TV from a Macbook, if that means anything. It’s setup as Plex/TV Shows/Show Name/ShowName - sXXeXX.ext

The issue seems to be an UI or setting one. I haven’t been able to find the setting so I’m hoping it is just this and it can be changed.

It used to be that I could go to my TV Shows on the Sidebar, click on a show and would have an episode list for the season. Awhile ago (a few months? a year? I’m not good with time) it changed so that now I have an extra click. So click on the TV Shows in the Sidebar, click on a show, see the episode list for the season, click on the episode and… go to another episode list for the season. This extra click is very odd.

Some screenshots to show what I mean. I navigate to Interview with the Vampire. Click. Shows the episode lists for the season. Click on an episode. Goes to the episode list for the season. Then if I click, it will play.

I know I can press play on the episode instead of clicking. I would still prefer to have it go back to how it used to be.

That’ll depend on how you access the library.
If you click on an episode listed in a hub (e.g. continue watching, recently added…), Plex will bring you immediately to that episode. If you open the show, Plex will first give you a listing of all the seasons (incl. their posters, cast information) and tv-show level extras.

If you have configured your library (or show) to hide its seasons, the show-page will indeed list episodes instead and you have to click on one of those to actually get to the episode page.

I have the library set to “Hide Seasons”. It does not hide seasons.

I just checked to see if there was a show setting for hiding seasons and, apparently, there is. So I checked it for the Interview show, quit the Plex server and the tvOS app, waited a few minutes and restarted both.

It still does not hide seasons.
