I have 53 old Christmas TV specials that I was trying to put on Plex, they do not all display. Plex is putting them as two seasons with 25 episodes on one season and only one episode on the other. None of the shows are titled either. See the two screenshots below of the shows on my computer and how they show up on Plex.
Can someone please tell me how I can put these on my Plex server where they all display properly?
Depends what exactly you try to achieve… you’ll then have to consequently name the files.
Treat them as actual episodes of their respective shows
For that you’d have to name the files as tv episodes alongside the required folder structure.
Example:
name A Charlie Brown Christmas (Schulz-Mendels on-Melendez-... as TV Shows > The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show > Specials > The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show - s00e01 - A Charlie Brown Christmas.ext (where ext is the file extension)
name A Flintstone Christmas (Hanna-Barbara Productions, ...) as TV Shows > The Flintstones > Season 00 > The Flintstones - s00e04 - A Flintstone Christmas.ext
…
You can then add the episodes to a Xmas playlist or collection – however, this will result in a lot of single-episode shows in your library.
Treat them as an independent movie library
Some of those episodes have their own listing on TheMovieDb.org – so you could simply treat them as movies in a movie library (or collection) of their own.
However… even here you should consider some renaming.
For the full package you’ll probably end up handling those episodes in a TV Show library of their own. Properly structure and name all the episodes… you can then configure the library to display the episodes instead of the shows.
I put them all in as movies as a separate library. I didn’t think you can do this with TV shows, I think I tried it once before and didn’t work correctly.
If you don’t want to rename your files and plan on keeping them, you can add them as a MOVIE(if most are a movie or TV movie), most will not match cause of your filenames, so you can FIX MATCH and be done with it. If you do this to a new library say, “Christmas Media”. And if this library is shared to others then unshare it after the Christmas holiday.
