I’ve been battling with Plex since cutting the cord in June. After a few hardware changes and a fresh install, I thought my issues would go away. Now, with Fall TV Season looming, I’m down to one important issue that needs to be resolved: Scheduled recordings absolutely refuse to record. I can start recordings all day long with no problem (mostly), but it I “set it and forget” then there is a 99% chance nothing will be recorded. I have logs and screenshots for the devs.
Hardware is nVidia Shield TV (5.2)
HDHomerun Connect: Model: HDHR4-2US
Device ID: xxxxxxxxx
Firmware: 20170815
Plex Media Server: 1.8.1.4139
One thing I noticed in the log is that you are running PMS 1.8.1. Since the recording date September 7 there have been 2 newer PMS releases both of which had notes about transcoder fixes. I would suggest updating to 1.9.1 which was released yesterday and see if this release solves the issue for you.
These are the very reasons I started using the Silicon Dust (HDHR) DVR. I can ‘set it and forget it’. But… I recently switched to DVBLink and it’s so much better picture-wise. The HDHR interlaced very badly when playing back to Amazon devices (no Roku support planned, they say). DVBLink is smooth. Granted it’s not free, and the EPG has a subscription, and the EPG loader is an extra charge. But until the PLEX DVR settles down, I will stay on the dark side.
