I moved my plex server over to a faster computer i7 920 with a passmark of roughly 5800 when last tested. However I can’t even do one 1080 stream on my HOME NETWORK without lag! What is going on. I thought that at 10mbs a passmark of roughly 2000 would be able to handle one stream and yet it is crippling my cpu to 100%. I have direct play and direct stream on and its only a 6gb mp4 file. Why am I having so much trouble and why is one stream crippling my cpu like this?
P.S. I have nothing running in the background only the plex server.
Thanks for you guys help!
There is something wrong about that file.
Plex has determined an bitrate of requiredBandwidths="2147483647,2147483647,2147483647,2147483647,2147483647,2147483647,2147483647,2147483647"
This is clearly wrong.
Are you able to edit the metadata of this file?
If so, remove the embedded poster image. (iTunes should do the trick)
Afterwards, re-Analyze the file, then repeat the playback test.
I’d be very interested in the original file for further analysis by the developers.
Not sure how to remove the embedded poster image. I put the file into the itunes library and ran the file but the poster image still shows up. Is there another step I have to do?
Even though I didn’t remove the embedded poster I put the file back into my plex server and then re-Analyzed the file. Still resulted in the same problem. Could it be because I didn’t remove the poster in step one? How do I remove?
Ok I figured out how to remove artwork sorry. Was very simple. Also I have no problem in giving you guys the original file. I’ll update as soon as I run next re-Analyze and test.
This didn’t work. I do not know if I can alter the metadata. I ripped this movie from my own iTunes media account. Could that have anything to do with it. Or does plex have a suggested program for iTunes movies? I use makeMKV for my blu rays but those files seem to be working just fine.
Movies from the iTunes store are DRM-infested. Plex cannot handle such a file.
