Need help

Server Version#: Version 1.30.0.6486
Player Version#:9.13.0.37280(f451ce1)

Hi guys, i have for some time been running a plex server, and it have been working okay.
Lately i was looking for some settings to set quality of the videos. i am a noob in all this. but after i have done that, i cant access my plex server outside my home net work. and can´t find out why. i do sit behind a dubble NAT. the main router should be setup correctly to point the dirrection of my second router. plz some on help me.

Which ones. I can’t think of any that would affect remote access connectivity.

can you get a successful ping at canyouseeme.org using the external port you used?

thats one of my big problems. my shorttime memory is very bad, so some how i have done something else that affect remote access. i have now tryed to setup a switch after router one, and open port 32400. and that did not help at all, i am totaly lost

Hi again no i do not get a ping from that page

Probably worth it at this point to double check all your settings and step your way through everything to try and find what you may have inadvertently changed that has impacted your remote access.

Please read through Remote Access and Troubleshooting Remote Access support pages.
Then step through this guide: The Basics of Remote Access Troubleshooting

If you have been unable to get remote access working after you have completed all of the above (please be thorough and don’t skip any steps, or think you’ve already done all of this so you don’t need to bother), come back and we’ll get some details from you and proceed from there.

I have been in my router and setup the port 32400, and the Ip to that computer is set to IP reservation. enable remote access in the plex server. and i do not use VPN on my plex server.

So all this was no help at all.

You need to either (a) eliminate the double NAT situation or (b) configure a double port forward.

The first is preferable. Can you place one of the routers in bridge mode (aka AP mode)?

See the Troubleshooting Remote Access document linked by @perplexity for additional information.

I have get rit of the dubble NAT, now my plex server runs, directly after the first NAT. and i still have the same problem, the port 32400 i open in my router, but i can´t ping it.

If possible, please show a screenshot of the port forwarding statement in your router.

Also a screenshot of Settings → Remote Access settings.

Mask any public IP addresses. Do not mask any private IP addresses.

Just want to make sure the addresses and ports are aligned.

Here’s my settings:

ASUS RT-AC68U router:

  • External Port: Matches Plex Remote Access settings.
  • Internal Port: Always 32400
  • Internal IP address: Address of Plex server.
  • Protocol: TCP

Plex Remote Access Settings:

  • Private: IP address of Plex Media Server. Must align with Internal IP Address in router port forwarding statement.
  • Manually specify public port checked.
  • Port number matches port forwarding statement in router.

Plex thinks it is still in a double NAT situation.

Let’s see if the log files show anything.

Please do the following:

  1. Ensure your server is configured for debug level logging.
    Settings → Server_Name → General + Show Advanced

  2. Restart Plex Media Server.

  3. Wait 3 to 5 minutes for the server to fully start and log the startup sequence.

  4. Pull the server log files via Settings → Troubleshooting.

  5. Attach the ZIP file to the thread.
Drag it into the message window. It will attach at the cursor location.

Thanks for the log files.

Please turn off verbose logging. It adds unnecessary information to the log files.

The problem is that your ISP uses CGNAT addressing, which is incompatible with Plex remote access. CGNAT places Plex in a double-NAT situation.

Ask your ISP if they can provide you a public, unique IPv4 address. It does not need to be static, but must be unique to your Internet service.

If they cannot do so, look for a VPN that supports port forwarding and unique public IPv4 addresses.

Hopefully others can weigh in with additional ideas.

From Plex Media Server.log. 100.92.82.113 is in the CGNAT address space, from 100.64.0.0 to 100.127.255.255.

Dec 24, 2022 11:53:04.767 [7500] DEBUG - NAT: UPnP, public address is 100.92.82.113
Dec 24, 2022 11:53:04.767 [7500] DEBUG - PublicAddressManager: got WAN IP 100.92.82.113 from router
Dec 24, 2022 11:53:04.767 [7500] WARN - PublicAddressManager: WAN IP on router does not match public IP from plex.tv

One thing i just don´t understand in all this, my plex server have been working, but the last month it have not.

You may have been accessing the server via Plex Relay, which tunnels the stream through servers at plex.tv (Settings → Network → Enable Relay).

Plex Relay streams are limited to 2 Mbps (1 Mbps w/o a Plex Pass). In Plex Dashboard → Now Playing, they appear as Indirect, not Remote streams.

nope thats not true, it was remotely, ppl, who have access lives along way from here, and they watch shows in 1080P 10mbps

You’re definitely on a CGNAT network now.
