need more info for the various players

It would be GREAT if you published more specs for the various Plex players (Plex Apps page). I’m interested mostly in native file formats they will play so I don’t have to transcode.

Thanks - Justin

there are too many to list and changing all the time. it depends on the device you are playing it on. Not all Android devices are made the same for example.

I’m a bit confused about the Android example. Wouldn’t the Plex Android app natively play the same formats on all Android devices? I thought the app (not the device) determined what it could play natively.

Unfortunately not. The Plex app uses the player components of the device. In the case of Android devices it can vary wildly what a device supports, due to different chippery built into the device and sometimes also different Android OS versions.

The Plex app brings not an own player engine.
This is true for every Plex app. The only exceptions are the ‘grown-up’ HTPC clients ‘Plex Home Theater’ and ‘Plex Media Player’.
