Hi! I have the latest version of the Nvidia Shield Pro and all my library is stored in the internal hard disk. After performing a factory reset on the device to fix another non-related problem, the Plex server, every single day, needs to be rebuild. When I open the Plex app to watch something or try to access the server from another device, it says that the server does not exist. On the Shield I am always pushed to the setup screen where the server is created. So, every single day I have to create the server, create the libraries, etc. Has anyone else experienced this?
There are people on here that have a plex server running on the shield with no problems so i guess it can be done. I had problems with it on my shield pro including it crashing and taking days to work out how to get it working again.
The shield is a very good player but (for me) a poor server. I tested having the server on a PC and it was reliable so I ended up making a freenas set up and have the plex server on that now with virtually no problems any more.
I recently picked up a Pro and use it mainly for music. I am not seeing the issue you are seeing. I did the SSD mod but other than that, using a stock image. I have over 45K songs… so that would suck pretty hard if it did that every day. No real suggestions other than letting you know, I am not getting the same issue on my Pro.
Where is your metadata stored
Whenever the default is. This last time I set the Plex server with all the default and used the internal storage for everything.
I haven’t seen it everyday, but I couldn’t access my server the other day why I was away. When I got home today the shield, and Plex had an update. After the update it opening Plex directs me to create a server. Don’t know if it was due to the updates, or if it just randomly happened when I lost access.
