I would like to have a simple folder browser or at least filter the library by the parent one. I have my collection in individual folders. For example OST, Classical, Greek, English Collections, Greek Collections etc. Not every album is identified so when I want to listen classical in Roon I focus the Classical folder and browse there. The same with Greek music which is the most difficult to identify since we are a very small market. Now in Plexamp I see only 168 classical albums but in reality are way way more. I have the 111 years of DG which are 111 albums and the complete recordings of Karajan another 240CDs. There are 170 albums missing because they are not Identified for some reason. In Roon I don’t care because I filter them. Here I can’t. I see only a flat view and not a tree or nested view.
That’s not a simple file browser. It shows a flat view of my folders.
The first screenshot from Plexamp shows ALL the folders containing music and the second the actual disc hierarchy. I would like the second approach. In PMS Music Library I have imported the single folders as shown and NOT the whole disc. As you can see there is a Video folder which contains Music Videos and I don’t want to have them indexed.
While this is the right thing to do, to make Plex work correctly,
it also makes these “root” folders invisible to Plex.
So if I import the whole disc I will have the desired effect? All I want is the filter by folder as you see in my screenshot.
Most likely not, because then it will mess up your album artist and merge them etc.
Oh OK. So my feature request remains. I attach a screenshot of Roon to see exactly what I want. No dedicated folder browser but only the top ones.
Just clarifying… what you’re asking for is a filter to select the „storage location“ — which I suppose refers to the top-level directory linked to your library?
Exactly. I don’t care for the deeper levels. I just want the top ones. As I wrote in my first message I have many albums that are not recognized. But they are there. Especially with Greek Music. For example I have many albums on Rembetiko genre. Unknown to people outside Greece. It’s a genre with underground roots dealing with drugs, manga culture, death threats and all these “beautiful” things. Except for the top names the rest of them are unknown. Only Discogs has some discs but it’s API is closed to 3rd party applications.
So I filter my albums to “Ελληνικά” as you saw in explorer and Roon and listen. I don’t care if I see also more modern albums because the number is much more manageable. Instead of 5000 albums I have to search in 500.
It appears, the option to filter by top-level folders has been added with PMS 1.41.3
I saw it. It’s only for top level ones. I have a single disc and naturally it shows only that. I would like something like the one in Roon or Audirvana. A true folder browser.
