(Net Neutrality) Cox Communications ISP blocking Plex.tv authentication servers?

Looks like Plex.tv authentication servers such as Plex.tv/link are no longer accessible from Cox Communications (at least in my region). I have verified other ISPs can still reach the authentication servers, but all Plex clients on Cox internet are not longer working in my region.

This has been verified by multiple family and friends adjacent to me, but in the same region. Looks like there was no time lost acting on the official removal of net neutrality today.

This resolved thanks to @ChuckPA and the Plex Operations Team. Hopefully this isn’t an arm race now.

@benjaminwolf

I’m not 100% convinced we’re out of the woods yet. Still have one outstanding report in that region.

The confusing element is it looks like partial connectivity to app.plex.tv and does reach it but later times out inside.

@ChuckPA

Was the issue resolved by contacting Cox to correct the route or did the operations team resolve the issue themselves? If the operations team brought up another cluster of app services, I would assume some of the traffic will still be resolved to the old route by slow DNS or GSLB and cause timeouts.

It appears to have been resolved. Are you experiencing any?

The most common cause would probably have been a BGP issue.

What was the resolution on this? I seem to be OK with people streaming from my PMS if they are on Cox, but anyone outside of Cox is throttling down to 1.5-2Mbps. Things authenticate fine but streams just won’t go higher quality, even though iperf tests show it’s there.
