I had Plex server working while my internet provider was Cox Communications. When I switched to AT&T U-verse, the Plex dashboard indicates no server found. I changed the Static IP address of the server to work with the new allowed range of internal IP addresses. I also manual specified the port as 32400. When that didn’t work I uninstalled Plex server and reinstalled it, making sure to update all required files. No luck… Please help.
I assume you’re using the modem/router provided by AT&T? Have you forwarded the port on the router?
Yes… I realize I didn’t mention it but I cannot even access my Plex Media on my local network. Plex just doesn’t even see it.
I saw something in another post about IPv6 being enabled by default. Try seeing if that is enabled and disable it just to see if it helps out.
I made the change on the router. That didn’t seem to make a difference. Would I have to reboot the Plex server?
Eh, not sure if it would matter, but rebooting the machine it’s installed on wouldn’t hurt.
I’m not really sure what the issue would be. I know you said you can’t connect to the server from your local network, but how are you accessing the web interface? With the local IP address or with app.plex.tv?
I have tried accessing it both ways: Locally and from Plex.TV. Both start and show the desktop but cannot find the server.
So, http://ipaddress:32400/web doesn’t work? That’s very weird.
I agree. Unfortunately I have to get offline now. Will check back for any further ideas tomorrow…thanks!
You can try this if there might have been a sign in problem. often happens if you might have signed into server with a different account.
Else you can try this to help claim a server that cannot be seen for some reason.
So the mistake was embarrassingly simple. I had edited /etc/dhcpcd.conf to create a static IP address for the Plex server. I updated that IP address when I changed from Cox to AT&T, but forgot to change the router IP address. Cox and AT&T do not use the same range of IP addresses in their home networking scheme, so the server failed to find any network outside of the local.
