Network not detecting Hauppauge WinTV HVR955Q TV Tuner and I'm not sure where to find IP address

Network not detecting Hauppauge WinTV HVR955Q TV Tuner and I’m not sure where to find IP address or host name any help would be greatly appreciated. I just purchased the Hauppauge WinTV HVR955Q TV Tuner off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-1191-WinTV-HVR-955Q-Tuner-Notebook/dp/B001DEYVXO/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

That is a usb tuner that has to be plugged directly into your server. It would not have an ip address.

Hi BRBMan, thanks. Yes, it’s plugged directly into my Plex server. The issue is, Plex DVR is not recognizing the device.

it should find it then, you will not have an ip address to enter. - Maybe someone else who has that tuner can help

Do you have drivers for tuner installed?

Hi johnm_ColaSC, yes the tuner works perfectly with WMC and NPVR

What PMS version is your server?

Version 1.7.5.4035

Right but it’s not picking it up or seeing it.

@ryanfay upgrade to the latest version and see if the issue has been fixed in the current release.

Outside of updating to 1.8.0 to see if that fixes your problem I don’t have much else to suggest. You are on a supported server release it appears, you have the drivers installed since it is working with the other Media systems. Can’t really think of much else.

Yeah. That’s about where I am at as well. Happy to post logs but not sure which one would be most relevant to the issue…

Mine is showing already up to date.

Turn on Plex Pass channel in server settings. Can also manually download from Plex.tv/downloads turn on Plex Pass from website as well. Current Plex Pass version is 1.8.0.

Thanks, @johnm_ColaSC I didn’t know that!

Still no luck though on Version 1.8.0.4109…

Alright, two things. 1: Found some logs that might be helpful. 2. Odd that the 955q is showing as a 950q according to Plex logs:

@ryanfay does it show as a 950q or 955q in device manager. I have the 950Q and that is not a supported tuner for some reason but the 55 is. if it is a 950Q in device manager and you are certain you actually have the 955 then you may want to make sure you have the correct drivers. You may also want ot look on the back of the device because the 950q was very common and the 955Q was a newer device.

Same driver for 955Q and 950Q - http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr950q.html
(for windows, anyway)… but yea, it looks like it’'s seen as 950Q for @ryanfay

Just wanted to chime in with my experience with the 955Q … it didnt work for me very much (though it was recognized by the kernel in linux) when setup in my vmware plex config. I had to get a raspberry pi and plug it into there  (with tvheadend/tvhProxy/LiveTVH channel). Hauppauge + vmware wasnt a good match… they do not test their drivers under this platform.

First off, I’m a little surprised that you went for that model, as the Win-TV Dual-USB, which can record two things at once, is actually cheaper than the one you went for, which can only record one thing at a time.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015IL0FIW/ref=twister_B019XIQITG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I actually got my Win-TV Dual-USB for $50 from Best Buy, as apparently they’re no longer carrying the tuner and therefore it’s $20 off on clearance. You have to order it off their website, though, as they don’t carry it in-store.

Second, what device is your server? I have an Nvidia SHIELD as my Plex server, and my USB tuner showed up almost immediately. If your server is a SHIELD too, the tuner you’re using actually isn’t compatible, at least according to the official Plex DVR tuner compatibility chart: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/225877427-Supported-DVR-Tuners-and-Antennas

The device is being shown as 955q. I am over Hauppauge I just returned it to Amazon. I am about to pull the trigger on an HDHomeRun EXTEND. Thoughts?
