Help Using WinTV-HVR-955Q / WinTV-HVR-950Q!

Hi, I have the following USB TV Tuner: WinTV-HVR-955Q or WinTV-HVR-950Q, I can’t really figure out which one it is, BUT, they are the same drivers, as per the Hauppauge’s website.

For some reason, when trying to setup the DVR, it won’t locate it automatically, and I have tried searching online to figure out how to find the localhost or IP address of the USB Tuner. It doesn’t make sense to me that it would have an IP because it’s not a network tuner, it’s a USB tuner.

Truth be told if you haven’t figure it out already, I am a newbie to all of this, so sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, I just can’t figure it out, after spending 2 hours now… :confused:

Had to change my update channel to the Plex Pass channel and the update did the trick.

Which version of the PMS are you on? I’m on Plex Pass and it doesn’t work…

Edit: Current version 1.7.2.3878.

Sorry, I can’t figure out what you mean by ‘PMS’ I’m on. Looking in settings, it says my server version is ‘Version 1.5.6.3790’ and my Web version is ‘Version 3.7.0’

Yeah PMS = Plex Media Server.

Is 1.5.6 another branch or are you just really far behind?

I guess my account is that far behind? I just signed up, so that seems a bit odd.

1.5.6 is the latest Public release. You need to enable Plex Pass downloads to get the 1.7.2 release.

Hmmm, I’ve tried everywhere to figure out how to enable Plex Pass Downloads, how do I do that? I signed out, signed back in, my server disappeared, so I had to reclaim one (whatever that meant), then the DVR Beta link disappeared, but I see it’s back again. I’m not completely incompetent lol, but this software really doesn’t seem that intuitive, or stable even. lol

Okay, now the option to enable shows up… so weird… it didn’t just a few seconds ago…

Okay, that’s now updated to Version 1.7.2.3878. I also changed the channel to Plex Pass.

And after signing out, shutting down Plex, and signing back in again, it still won’t detect my TV Tuner card. You said it still won’t detect yours either?

Nope… just searches and searches :’( I know the tuner works because I can use it with SichboPVR, and WinTV, and Emby, etc…

@carpenike Thanks for your help earlier! I appreciate you taking the time to try and help me - especially since I am a newbie at this. I figured out that I have the HVR950 version, and the one they have stated to be compatible is HVR955Q. I’m not sure if mine is the Q version or not, but it may just be that my specific version just isn’t compatible, even though the drivers are the same. Thanks again buddy!

We only support the HVR955Q currently, even though the drivers are the same.

We are actively working on supporting other tuners.

I was really excited about today’s update, because I have an old 950Q that I was hoping to add to my HDHR setup to get two more tuners. Hope we can get support for this one down the line.

+1 for supporting the 950Q. I have a couple of those laying around and would love to put them to good use on my Plex server.
