New 4K chromecast (Android) with the Plex app never starts playing until subs are disabled

As per the title some movies while they can play without transcoding refuse to play until their subtitles are disabled. A particularly annoying problem for movies which have some non-English scenes.

There are some threads on Reddit two years ago about this where the top comment advises to set Burn Subtitles to Always but this hasn’t worked for me and the buffering is still infinite.

Starting to play the media and then changing the playback settings during playback to disable subtitles it plays in a few seconds. But again, I cannot participate in non-english scenes which happens often in western media.
