New Agent Fails

I always have TVDB open these days, so I can fix TMDB issues in an Edit Window:

Surprisingly - TMDB shows the same episode this time…

Unfortunately another wrench flew into the spokes when for some inexplicable reason:

The New Agent OVERRIDES TWO correct listings - for the wrong one…

Good thing I have that TVDB page open all the time now - and a Plex Edit window.

It used to be easier adding media.
I’d name it right and it would be right.
Now it’s only right after I edit it:

I have a feeling we need more/new categories for you in this forum…
Is this a rant, a request for support, pointing out a bug… In this case (as in many others) it’s not entirely clear to me what message you’re trying to send
:frowning:

My takeaway so far:

The episode is The Queen is Back
The New Agent selected The Devil in her Heart - throwing away two correct listings to select the incorrect listing.

What’s so hard to Understand?

Is this a support forum?
Do you not think that problem deserves a little support?

Insulting me isn’t really the support I was after.

Your Plex screenshot shows s01e12 as The Queen is Back… you’re giving me a hard time to interpret what it might have been before you changed it – not even clearly saying you did or if the screenshot is from before/after.

Not insulting you… at least I have no intention to do so. Just not clear what you were aiming for (and still not entirely sure to be fair).

If I hadn’t edited the episode to The Queen is Back - with metadata - it would be showing The Devil in her Heart with no metadata.

I did delay the taking of that Plex screenshot showing the fail - I only showed the repair.
I’ll get better at this as time goes on - of that I am absolutely certain.

FileBot named it - after I sent it to TVDB to get the name:

Unfortunatly and Apparently, nothing in that name helped Plex select the correct episode.

… and…:

I think I’m wishing that TVDB Selection had a lot more power and influence.
I really miss the Old Agent for being able to DENY the influence of anything else.

Under the Old Agents I would switch from the default TVDB to TMDB - Occasionally - when working around Rodentia Character Images and the like (when possible), but nothing in the fiber of my being would EVER make me want to switch to TMDB as the default TV Show Agent.

Now I’m getting the feeling IMDB is another player I’d like to blackball.

I just tested this. With the episode ordering for the show set to “TheTVDB (Aired)” I saw the same behavior as @JuiceWSA; with it set to “The Movie Database (Aired)” it pulled the correct metadata.

The default for my library is to use TheTVDB ordering. For this test, I overrode it at the show-level.

Wonder where that June 14th date is coming from

The plot thickens - 'cause I have no idea.

I set it to the 18th when I did my edit - that’s kinda when the episode aired… so…

While we mull the above over:

When Plex downloads and selects a Season Poster - the only thing left to do if the only selection doesn’t suit - is to create one - or two. I’m not sure if that’s what was intended, but it is the result.

Here are a few I made for ‘Home Before Dark’ - when it annoyed me pretty badly:

Home Before Season One

Home Before Season Two

…just in case someone else isn’t all that fired up over the Season 2 Selection made for them… they can’t get rid of.

As far as the orig issue I’m just going to need to ask out metadata guys to investigate as it is an odd one.

I’m not really sure what you are getting at. What intention? Should there be more options available? The TVDB does not seem to have a poster for S2 of that show

The issue:

A singular season poster is downloaded - and selected - and it sucks.
I can’t get rid of it - so my only option is to replace it - by creating one, or two.

I would rather a Season Poster is NOT auto-downloaded and selected - if I had a choice, but I seem to be fresh out of those in the matter.

5 posts were split to a new topic: Not using french season posters

Allow me to interrupt briefly:

Ground Control To Brian - Hello, Brian… Where are you Brian?

I’ll look into but I’m going to ask that for future problems you make a new thread with a specific title like “cast thumb not available” or something. having one mass thread for every possible issue is not helpful for tracking.

Man, the fails are coming so fast I can’t keep up. That’s why this Thread is in the plural - “Fails”.

I understand, but if an issue requires more than a single post, can you not break it out into it’s own Thread?

Like maybe a Language Issue that isn’t one I speak?

I’m just asking… and await your response.

I can but if I am away for the weekend or something and a bunch of folks add new things and make a single post that cover multiple issues then it is hard to break up.

I understand you made it plural but these are all still separate issues. a language issue with posters is not the same as cast image issue. Like one topic “Plex server fails” with every possible issue a users got with the server (that could include metadata) isn’t helpful.

@JDA88 its fine for what was already asked just don’t wan’t this topic to get unwieldy.

Understood.

For now - we’ll let 'em stack up.

All I want is to ‘Notify’.
Result Details aren’t really important, unless a dialog is to be entered into… if you’re not available, I’ll break those out myself.

We’ll try not to let it get out of hand, but there are AT LEAST two of you in this thread that can Administer - I imagine there are a lot more and one is probably not very far from here if needed. I’m guessing.

hey @JuiceWSA I just wanted to confirm you have TVDB as the library default for episode ordering right. (I think i saw you mention that in another topic)

Yes, I do

This normally happens when the image was removed upstream. Haven’t had time to read through everything but have you tried to just refresh the metadata on the show?

If so could you navigate to that page again and then grab the server logs, it’s the only way to see what image it’s trying to access and why it’s failing.
