New Android app totally unusable

Player Version#: 2025.14.0

Just tried to use Plex on mobile and its totally unusable since this update. UI is absolutely insane laggy, selecting “Live TV” crashes it entirely requiring a force-stop.

I’ve tried it on my phone (Samsung S23) and my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2) with the same results. Spent 5+ minutes (that I got a stopwatch for) thinking maybe it “just needed time” with my tablet hung at the LiveTV screen and a spinning circle. No errors, no warnings, just hung.

My phone will sometimes load the TV Guide claiming everything is “no longer available” but other times will spin forever without any errors or warnings hung.

Although the user-selection “works” and the home/regular library load, both are horribly laggy.

On desktop/web players, everything is flawless still. I can kinda-sorta use the web player with my mobile browser and works smoothly but shouldn’t have to do that.

Is there some way to get the old app back? This is absolutely unusable.

Same experience myself. Will go looking for old version as this version is unusable.

Same here, Galaxy tab on latest android as well as my old S8 which has worked perfectly up untio this update. Files which played flawlessly before now stop and start constantly, if they even start at all, UI takes minutes to load sometimes, can’t check playback info in any meaningful way, it’s utter dogshit. Seems to be working okay on Roku still for the most part.

I noticed with the new Android Update there is no TV Theme Music. I loved this it would get you in the mood to watch the show. Since the Update no TV Theme Music and no options to turn it on or off. Please Fix.

Just side-load it.

Oh nice, I didn’t realize there was an official not-sketchy source for the old APKs!

And I would imagine have to disable auto-update on Play Store after installing…

Not sure if side-loaded APKs are checked against the Play Store for updates. If it is, you can disable updates just for Plex (three dots menu in upper-right of the Play Store page), and you don’t have to disable updates on all apps.

I know if its the same “apk name” the com.whatever.something inside it will detect and update thru Play Store if you don’t disable it. I’ve seen that with some other apps
