Hate the new UI …so so much

Its just garbage. Everyone else is likely already gone on and on about all the problems. I’m just here to pile on it’s horrible I hate it and it sucks you’ve ruined my daily lovely TV app that I paid a lifetime for.

So Lame.

Agreed the new UI is awful and convaluted. Trying to use it on a firestick is completely awful. The fact you now have to press a bunch more buttons to do the same thing really pisses me off.

Also trying to delete something is impossible as when you go to Manage> the cursor vanishes.

Cmon devs do the right thing and roll this shitshow back, its a horrible user experience

I hate it too. I loved Plex so much and now you’re right, they’ve ruined it. It’s not just one thing, there’s a whole list of things that have made it worse and now I’m just irritated while using it. REALLY regretting paying for that lifetime pass now. Ugh.

You might get a lot further by explaining specific things you don’t like. They’ve likely heard it all before, but simply stating that you don’t like it doesn’t give them anything to work with.

And… they won’t listen anyway, so there’s that.

This. Plex doesn’t care about us or what we want. They aren’t listening anymore.

Sure they are. These are the things they’ve committed to implement/fix/change on the personal media side recently:

The improvements to downloads have already begun:

These are all things that folks have been requesting for a while now.

There’s a difference between “I want the legacy interface back and they aren’t doing it == proof Plex isn’t listening” and the reality that they have taken constructive feedback and are implementing changes.

I specifically mean they aren’t listening to feedback in regards to the new UI. I see the work being done on PMS, and that is great they haven’t abandoned it (yet). The UI has received so much negative feedback. They made a couple of changes to the drop down menus and that’s about it. Now any feedback to the UI, if it’s acknowledged at all, is just, “thanks for the report.” …and in the trash it goes.

There are at least three bullet points in the list above specific to the new UI:

  • Downloads improvements (already begun)
  • Playlist creation and editing
  • Reintegrating music and photos
  • Server and library management being added to both mobile and TV apps

I understand that there is dislike for the new UI, and I get it. But to suggest that they aren’t listening to feedback is disingenuous at best.

Irony?

It doesn’t seem ironic to me, but I’m a simple man.

And my only assertion in this thread is that Plex is indeed listening to feedback. I’m not suggesting that one navigation paradigm is superior. I truly don’t have a preference, I was able to adapt.

I might get further but they’re not listening…. I think my post is just fine thank you. It accomplishes what I wanted to accomplish which is why I posted it the way I did.

It would be great if they rolled back the interface. It is so difficult to maneuver in the new interface, not sure why they tried to mess with what worked already. My wife now refuses to use PLEX in our bedroom because it is to much trouble.

My kids can’t figure out the new interface and they were so used to the old one. They hate it and don’t use Plex anymore.

I agree with the OP 100%. I’ve only viewed the new Plex Client GUI on a family members Fire TV. I’m planning on side loading the version prior to the new GUI update. Also, these changes haven’t reached my Apple TV 4k’s in my home yet, so I need to figure out a method to prevent auto-updates.

This prompted me to try JellyFin, but all of the 3rd party Apple TV 4K apps for JellyFin are broken, suffer from extreme performance issues or abandoned.

So i tried Emby, the Apple TV 4K app crashes constantly and the live tv playback includes micro-stutters that, apparently, have been an issue for 6+ years in one form or another. Its the most annoying thing to me ever.

I’ll use KODI on my home LAN and let my friends and family deal with the annoying until the GUI is usable again.

Agreed the new UI on Roku has got to be one of the worst choices the Plex team has made so far. Navigation is horrible. It adds so many extra clicks. Whomever approved this design should be fired. Or at least taken out back and fed to an illegal fight club.

If this GUI makes it to the Apple TV that will finalize my switch to Jellyfin.

In the Apple TV system settings, you can disable app updates. Unfortunately it’s a global setting but that’s what I did on my units

thank you!

How about Infuse?

Despite having a lifetime membership for years and using Plex every day, I’ve only ever posted on this forum 2 or 3 times. I’ve come out of hibernation to add to the chorus that the new UI is the worst thing to ever happen to Plex. I hate it sooooo much.

I mostly use the Plex player on two Fire TV Cubes. The player updated automatically to the new UI a few days ago. Since then, it has become so slow. It takes forever to respond to basic commands like play and pause and it crashed both of my Fire Cubes multiple times per day.

In addition, some critical features are gone. For example, I record the local news every night and typically start watching it while the recording is still in progress so that I can skip the commercials. The old UI would ask if I wanted to watch from the start or watch live. The new UI no longer has a watch-from-beginning option. I now have to choose between watching the broadcast live including all the commercials or wait until the broadcast is done. This is such a step backwards.

To the developers: PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD UI AND FIRE WHOMEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AI GENERATED GARBAGE APP.
