New app on Roku not showing guide

app on Roku got updated, says the guide from my server for “live TV and DVR”, you know, the thing I shelled out cash for a lifetime plex pass to get, is empty. Works fine on all other apps (windows, android, web) but not on the one that I use to watch TV all the damn time. Another broken update, and of course there’s no real support from Plex. They were happy to take my money though, that part was quick and easy.

Having the same issue here - the new guide is for some reason removing Live TV and DVR from the media server. Even if you reset the view and only include live TV and DVR (not plex tv), it will not show in the menu.

It is likely that you’ll find it nested under Live TV, mixed in with the other Plex channels.

I am personally not a fan.

I see where the guide should be, but it says it’s blank and I need to check my channels and refresh the guide. It shows up everywhere else, but not on the new Roku app. And incidentally, this new app is pretty clearly designed to push people to their ad supported options. As usual that’s far more important than taking care of their paying customers who bought a plex pass.

naturally no response from anyone at Plex. Lifetime Plex pass wasn’t free, but it’s basically useless if I can’t use the DVR function which is why I bought it in the first place. In theory this forum is where users should be able to get “support” from Plex, the only time I see a Plex employee post it’s a sticky post, they never reply to users with problems. Plex “support” is non-existent, but they can take your money with no problems.

Nobody else is seeing this problem? Now it’s changed the message to tell me that there was an error loading the guide, try again later. Plex updated the Roku app to push their ad supported channels into your face and didn’t bother to make sure the update worked with the tuner on a Plex server is what this looks like. Just screw the people who paid for a Plex pass to get that functionality, right? And of course nobody from Plex’s supposed “support” has said anything about this.

I have this exact problem. I found where the “NEW” LiveTV lives, but I have no guide. It says “I need to check my channels and refresh the guide”. I’ve done this. The guide shows up in web browsers and mobile devices. Just NOT the new Roku app.

Everything us up to date, but I will attempt to reinstall the Roku app for kicks. I hope this is addressed as I pretty much watch antenna TV 80% of the time.

In another thread I found a workaround that works for me. Go to the “Browse” option at the top and pick a show that’s currently on. Once that show is playing, hit the back button and the old guide shows up just fine. Works fine for me, but I’m not sure I can teach this option to my in-laws unfortunately.

Thanks for that. It’s not a fix but at least it’s SOMETHING. Although you can’t see any of the network logos or actual local channel numbers so it’s a crap shoot unless you’re already familiar with your guide listing the way it was before it was broken.

This really needs to be addressed. Guide is broken feature, not a bug we should have to live with. Hopefully they’ll see this. There’s got to be a way to submit legitimate broken feature reports somewhere…

I have my doubts about whether anyone who actually works for Plex ever bothers to glance at anything in these forums. I’ve certainly never seen any of them give advice on any issues.

Thanks so much for persisting with this. I, too, am plagued with this problem. I tried your workaround - works for me too. That’s great, but obviously not enough. Plex really, really needs to address this.

Mine turned out to be a firewall problem. That being said… I’m NOT super happy with the firewall settings I need to have in order for this to work. My NAS is basically open to the world. I need more details on exactly what IPs and ports Plex needs to work.

GOD… meh. This sucks.
(got hit with .deadbolt ransomware this week so I’m NOT super happy about open ports and IP access)

Not sure if you’ve hit this or not, but here are all the ports Plex wants to work its magic:

You only need port 32400 open. This is the only port accessible to the Plex server here and everything works as it should.

Also need to be on the latest version of PMS for the guide to work correctly under the new setup.

Thank you…
That was the final piece for me. MY PMS did not auto update, but manually installing the 2/28/22 update did the trick! It even works on my 2 older Rokus.
