I use plex to listen to music or at night watch a movie when I am camping, especially when I knew I wouldn’t have a connection to civilization, but now this new downloads wants to re-download the music and movies already downloaded prior to heading out. To say the least my last camping trip was quiet with no music to listen to or movies to watch because the app wanted to re-download everything. The old synch worked fine for me, so why did PLEX go and screw with it? YOU know the old addage if it ain’t broke don’t screw with it.
Tell me about your router?
Downloads on iOS is screwed for sure . I got too bored to care with Plex latest and greatest but if your router does not support DNS rebinding access (If it’s an ISP provided router it probably won’t) then your only option is to sync over your mobile data or buy a new router…
It was acknowledged last week as broken by no less than a Plex employee rather than a long suffering Ninja.
To celebrate the finding they pushed the broken feature from beta to default.
PS if you do decide to sync over mobile be careful. Plex consider TV based devices that will likely be connected to Ethernet or Wi-Fi as requiring 3Mbps. This feature however thinks your 6” mobile screen requires your 30GB movie needs downloading at Original quality by default even over 3-5G.
I actually took the phone off Bluetooth and only was on my phone and it was doing the same thing
I am in the same boat. Went on a 7 hour drive with the twins and no movies or media ever sync’d. Seems like it did but it did not. I tried with new function and old function. So now I no longer have downloads offline with plex. From the replies below there seems to be no resolution or workaround. If there is I dont know where to find it. Any help is appreciated.
I deleted the app, re-installed fresh sd card and all. No luck.
