Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173 on Ubuntu 20.04
Player Version#: iOS 7.24.1 on iOS 15.1
Is there a hard coded limit on transferring files using the new Downloads feature? I’m experiencing iOS clients transferring downloads much slower than what the network and server is capable of.
When on the local network, iOS clients will not transfer faster than 10Mbps each. This is regardless of the format setting on either “Maximize Compatibility” or “Original File”. If I try to perform Downloads on multiple devices I can get 10Mbps each.
When on a different network and transferring over the internet I was only able to get 10Mbps total for both clients transferring Downloads files.
In all tests there are no noticeable load on the CPU, plenty of available memory and disk bandwidth. During the tests I am able to open the Plex web UI from one of the devices perform manual downloads from there. The bandwidth I see from those tests is much more what I expect to see, maxing out at my local wifi (400Mbps-ish) or the download bandwidth of the remote location (200Mbps).
I’m not able to find anything in the logs or the Preferences.xml file (or this KB article which seems incomplete). I’d be willing to upload logs but when I was looking through them I identified a significant number of things I’d want to redact.
Any details or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I’m having exact same problem. Using same server and iOS version, tested using both iPhone and iPad Pro. When using the new download feature the speed seems to be limited at 10 mbps, but when I use the web app on my PC, I can get 150+mbps from a remote server.
Plus one for this issue. Download using the UI is maxing out my link, download using the app Download feature is severely capped and nowhere need maximum speeds
There is no hard limit to the speed. However, if you are streaming something at the same time, priority is given to the stream so Downloads may go slower. If you have nothing else going on at the time, I’ll need to see both server and ios logs to check what is going on.
