Download bandwidth limiting

The download function is able to use the full bandwidth available to it.

Example: I can download 1Gbps from a friend’s server. Considering streaming bw can be limited, it would make sense to also allow limiting download speed.

There’s already an existing suggestion discussing that the general bandwidth limits should apply for downloads as well (while that OP experiences they don’t). I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

Thank you. I missed that one too. Please close as duplicate.

Downloads are adhering to the speed limits which are defined in
Settings - Server - Remote Access
As a server owner you can and should define the maximum upload bandwidth that you want your Plex server to use.

Downloads will also always take a backseat to any concurrently-running streaming playbacks. They will only get assigned the remaining upload bandwidth, once the running streams are all satisfied.
