Hello - I like the new download function simply downloads a copy of the media. In the blog it indicates that this function in the Windows app is a sign of things to come e.g. with the android mobile player. Can I ask, will we therefore lose the ability to download (sync) media according to rules automatically, for example a certain number of unwatched episodes from a TV series. The current implementation actually works very well for me and would be a real problem to me if this type of functionality is lost.
We still support downloading the “next” unwatched episodes or the “latest” N episodes. But, …but, the functionality isn’t working as intended right now. Really lame; we’re fixing it.
@deactivated are you aware of any issues with the new client with watched status and progress not being synced from “downloaded/sync” media to the server? My experience is that it’s very inconstant .
Hi @Justin.Wedepohl, yes we are. We believe we sorted out the cause and will work out the fix.
Just in case you need something else to do:
Will the ability to sync folders and transcode video be added to the Windows Download function? The existing Metro app has the ability to do both.
I don’t have a ton of storage on my laptop and having to download 30+GB video files in order to watch something offline seems a bit excessive.
I’ll just stick with the existing Metro app for now. The new windows app is essentially unusable without the ability to transcode, or sync folders (with a limit on number of unwatched episodes).
Yes, it will come in the future.
so a couple of things. I want to be able to download all unwatched shows from all tv shows. Is this functionality available? Right now I seem to need it to do TV show at a time and in addition to this it downloads all shows and not just my unwatched. This makes the download function a bit unusable for me. I might as well just drag and drop shows. unless I am missing something here?
I have deleted the app from the windows app store and would like to go back to it to get my old functionality while it is missing from the new version. But that seems to have gone from the windows store. How do I get the old version?
I haven’t tried it but try going to the store and view all your purchased apps. Plex appears on the list for me, but I haven’t uninstalled it, and obviously I don’t want to try that. I’m just hoping the app continues to work until they restore the missing functionality.
