Recently updated my Plex iOS app to the latest version and tried out using the new Download feature for offline media playing, but this seems to result in a generic “Something went wrong” error when attempting to play the downloaded films. After deleting the local downloads, the files stream using Direct Play on my iOS device as normal.
Do you have the option enabled to Automatically Adjust Quality? We recently found this is causing an issue playing back hevc files. Turn off the setting and playback should be ok.
This does seem to fix the problem, though the file itself was x265 encoded .mp4. I don’t understand why Downloads and Automatically Adjust Quality should be mutually exclusive, hopefully this will be sorted out at some point.
Yes, it’s s bug we just discovered. It’ll get fixed.
