New Download - Playback of downloaded content fails (iPadOS)

Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931
Player Version#:iOS 7.22

When trying to play any content downloaded (using new player; old player simply hangs and is unresponsive), receive a “Something went wrong with playback. Please try again.” message every time. This occurs on all of my iOS devices (so not device specific).

This obviously significantly impacts the ability to use Plex when away from the house w/out internet connection.

I’m not sure how to report a bug. I have captured the log file, but it is large (4.3M). I’m happy to provide it to Plex for debugging, but not sure it is appropriate to add it here. I’ve searched the articles and forums for how to report a bug without success.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions to resolve the issue and/or instructions on how to report the bug differently. Thanks.

You report bugs by making a post like you did. Please provide your log after trying to playback one of these files, just try 1 for now. Let me know what that item is. You can attach your log to your next comment or you can PM the log to me if you are concerned with privacy. Leave any comments here.

I noticed a similar issue…some of the downloaded files wouldn’t work on my ipad. I was at 14.8.1 then upgraded to 15.1 but still no luck.

I found though that the files that wouldn’t work will work if I disable the “Use Old Video Player” setting. Is the recommendation to keep this disabled for downloads? Or is this something you want to debug? Should I send ios logs or anything? Thx

The old video player has limited codec support. It is not recommended you use this. If you do need to use this, then when downloading, make sure you have the Download Format setting set to maximum compatibility. This is the only way to have the old player work well.
