So, I was initially not a fan of this update that was pushed to Roku. Even in preview, I wasn’t a fan of it. But a couple weeks in, and it’s okay. Especially after the most recent update. But there’s still some major problems with it. If your a Plex employee looking at this, thank you. Please take a look at the bullet points below. Yes, I have a petition to roll us back in the forms but feedback is also helpful and I finally got eight of my TVs working yesterday, after not being able to use them since the update.
*Older Roku devices are very slow and difficult to navigate because of it. Maybe with optimization this will become better but it’s very clunky at the moment.
* there’s some kind of bug with the way it communicates with the server. At least with Ubiquiti equipment. If I have it on a secondary Network that’s not on the same as the server it doesn’t load any of the libraries or live TV. This wasn’t an issue before the update. This is what caused my 8 TV’s not to work. I had to disable network isolation so that they can communicate between Networks. Before the TVs would just show up as remote connection.
* accessing libraries is clunky and would be nice to have it consolidated to less clicks
* recent channels please put it back on the home screen. I don’t want to be scrolling to get to that. We waited years for that! This is one of the most important things to me.
* intermittently not able to open a TV channel if the end time is getting close. Example if the show ends at 8:00 p.m. and I try to open it at 7:58 it tells me I should record it, it won’t let me open the channel.
* logo on libraries shouldn’t be the image of the server. Example my image is Bumblebee. This should be changeable for each Library folder or made into something nicer looking that’s universal.
* live TV player or transcoder, whatever it is, seems to be a lot snappier, which is nice, but sometimes it just stops playing live TV. I think this will be fixed over time as people use it more, and they figure it out
* customizable option to move the Library horizontal or vertical
