Today i update my plex app in my iphone 13 pro max and i can see that now the “plex experience app” is the official plex app in ios.
When i try to play local/remote content but video is 4k with HDR or with DoVi, the app just crashes and i can’t play it. With 1080p/4k SDR content there is no problem.
Another thing i can see is that in my iphone normally i play downloaded content, in this new plex app i can’t download an entire tv show/season. In the old plex app i could go to one tv show season and download all the season. In this new app i have to download episode by episode.
Can we remove the 16 library limit for favorites? Or at least add visual feedback that you can only select 16 favorites. The app will happily let you select more than 16 and then you’re wondering why you can’t find some libraries on the list. There’s no way to get to “unpinned/unfavorited” libraries in the new PE.
I’d love to know what we (the community) shaped during this release between preview 1 and now. From my perspective pretty much very little has changed from a design aspect since the very first preview build but as always I’ll leave it open to the community to tell me otherwise …
Casting to a Chromecast Ultra from an iOS device (iPhone Pro max ios 18.4), the subtitles (external srt or internal srt, or from opensubtitles downloaded from within plex) do not show. The (CC) button does not work.
Casting from an Android device, downgraded to the previous version, subtitles are fine.
I’m seeing a big performance decrease with today’s release of 2025.10.2. Pages are taking much longer to load, and I’m seeing stutters video playback with UHD files on iPhone 13 Pro.
The first video I tried to play made it less than 1 minute before the app crashes. log-2025-04-07T17_14_15.593Z.zip (6.8 KB)

The download storage limit is flawed. (3rd time reporting with screenshots)
If you go settings->downloads and try to set the limit the slider just works as a toggle, never changing the number.
If you go downloads->settings the slider will let you set a limit and the number will stick if you go back to settings->downloads till the app crashes. (the media I was watching was not downloaded, it was off my server.)
A lot has changed, we went from the ability to have a usable app ALONGSIDE a beta test app, to EVERYONE in the community forced to become beta testers.
I was facing the same issue. I have added that exception to my AdGuard and the cast button started to work. But now there is another issue, I have 2 Chromecast in my network, none of them are showing up. (it works perfectly to other apps). What’s the next step?
I rarely rage out on the forums, I just do not, but the latest communication post from Plex to the very real issues that the community is expressing was quite infuriating and for once I felt some kind of way. WTF was that? Why did we go from an Alpha release to a stable release? From a fully and perfectly functional app to one that is barely functional for everyday use? Why did Plex not address the myriad of user feedback they got from use who signed up tested and provided feedback during the preview/alpha phase? These are the issues that should be addressed. The issues we are facing cannot be casually classified as “bugs”. These are genuine feedback issues from paying customers that require feedback, Geez.
I have seen some really good folks who used to be avid Plexers leave this forum during the past year or so… Very good folks, used to provide valuable feedback and support on these forums, I feel like today I became one of them. I think I am done folks, I really am.

iOS version crashes on start, reinstalling doesn’t help. Happening on two iPhones (15 pro max and 16 pro max both running iOS 18.4. Old app 8.45 an hour ago worked just fine
