Greetings Earthling! Mind if I jump in? I just wanted to comment about where things are progressing (or not). I have a bit of a library myself…. I was tickled when Collections showed up in Plex. But I’ve outgrown it - even my collections are too large IMO, for a “quick browse”. I’ve create a half-dozen collections by my own criteria; the remainder are auto-generated based on movies with two or more sequals. That still leaves me with over 400 Collections. For me, that means that users need to be able to nest their own collection criteria. I doubt such an expanded feature will ever be offered. I’ve given up on ever seeing expanded capabilities to manage my library. Why? Simple answer…… Over a DECADE waiting to sort music playlists and the SMUG attitude of those in charge.
Huge investments in time and money to toy around with “stuff” that the typical user isn’t looking for or demanding sums it up. That was the choice vs responding to customer requests/feedback.
Finally Browse and Recommended is working as expected with movie library.
Following issue still exists:
SRT subtitles with ANSI encoding still does not work. Subtitles might work couple of lines, but after that they vanish. This issue does not reproduce with iOS application version 8.45.
Also in Transifex new language requests (Finnish (fi) ) gets rejected for React Native Client project. This has not happened with other Plex related Transifex projects.
Is there any idea when chapters will be available in video files that we have downloaded? They work fine streaming, and appear under the video to select. If you download a video there is no option to access chapters? It seems weird that you can access them one way, but if you then don’t have data and want to use your downloaded copy, there are no chapters.
Not sure for how long it already has been. I don’t see it in the changelog in the app store (iOS). But FINALLY: more languages are supported. Took long enough tho…
Just wanted to say that I agree with the point about Disney movies, it is the main example that many have brought up over on TMDB… because the TMDB site doesn’t properly distinguish between studio, production company and distributor. Plex can do more in terms of metadata scraping by allowing all of the “studios” in the TMDB metadata field to be inputted into Plex but it would be better if TMDB did better organising of it’s data.
I made a post in the Request section of this forum for Plex to include ALL studios inputted in to the TMDB “Production Company” metadata field (because that is where TMDB users put the Studios, Production Companies, Distributors etc) but nobody cared, unfortunately. It didn’t gain any traction at all amongst the users here. The preference appears to be on more features rather than improving what is already with us.

React Native Client is currently supporting 15 languages. There are community request(s) for more languages in Transifex, but for some reason requests are getting denied.
I’ve always come to odds with Plex UX decisions. Almost all bad. The navigation locations to tap on the new app is insane. Tiny X es in opposite corners, and tapping a damn video to play doesnt play unless you hit the play button exactly in the center of the video object. Like zero thought went into these UX decisions.
I have a movie I rewatch sometimes and can fall asleep to that I downloaded and keep on my device. After watching I see there is a playback progress indicator and reopening the title plays a second of the end and exits, but doesn’t reset playback to the beginning or mark as played. Sometimes it does, and the watched checkmark is visible, usually it doesn’t.
Playback from the Downloads list needs to be able to reset playback position or resume from beginning. If that’s not the direction for the list, jumping to that item’s media entry in the appropriate library would make sense, but I’ve found playing from the library will start streaming instead of preferring the downloaded copy.
It also seems that after being downloaded for a while the library UI no longer shows it as downloaded, so something became disconnected. The refresh metadata didn’t seem to fix it and besides redownloading there didn’t seem to be anything else to try.
