New Feature: Date/Time Stamp for EPG

It would be nice to know when the EPG was last updated. It would also be good to know how far out the guide is good until.

Example:
Last Updated: 01/02/17
Retrieved Data Through: 01/22/17

Yep, this would be ideal, and I’ve had cases where the EPG hasn’t been updated, but I don’t exactly know when the last time that the EPG was updated was. I agree this would be an awesome addition.

I agree, it makes sense.

With some other programs it’s less necessary because those other programs have a full guide grid. With a quick Survey of the guide you can see visually the extent of the guide quickly. Without a full guide grid it is helpful to explicitly know when the guide was updated last and how far out the guide data extends as stated above.

So for example:

I recall doing a search in Plex to find a couple of upcoming premiere shows. The searches yielded no useful results. I used FollowShows to check the shows premiere datas and found that they were more then two weeks out. I therefore concluded that it would be a few more days before these shows would be in the guide.

Knowing the typology of the guide is useful.

So looking at the recording schedule agenda view would not give you what you are looking for?

I can also tell from the calendar view by navigating to the future dates whether I have guide data for that day as well.

I suppose these views might not if you have no shows scheduled to record on day 14 of the guide data. I always have at least one show scheduled to record.

Where would we want this data displayed? I can currently get to the information to know how far out my guide data is showing in just two or three clicks. Click Recording Schedule, then one or two clicks on the right arrow to move to future dates.

I agree it would be nice to see the last date the EPG was successfully updated with 100% of the guide data. This would be useful for those that are experiencing nightly updates that are not processing successfully.

Fully agree. This needs to happen.

Right sometimes the guide might not update properly for whatever reason. So for example someone might do a search for a show that should be well within a 14 day period and if there is no hit that might be an indication that the guide data is less then 14 days in total.

This would then prompt a manual guide update and a watchful eye to see that it succeeded.

The Recording Schedule view could help but then again it might not if you don’t have scheduled shows within the questionable area as you suggested . It also wont work if you have scheduled shows that have some kind of error and don’t appear in the recording Schedule for some reason (I’ve seen this happen more then I care to mention).

Where would I suggest the guide data update and time period info be placed?

I would suggest under:

Program Guide (next to Discover pull-down menu)
Recording Schedule (Next to Calendar View / Agenda View pull-down menu)

and

Settings > Server > DVR Beta (next to Refresh Program Guide)

All the above locations not just one. Again all this is useful because of the quasi reinvention of the wheel approach (ie no full guide grid).
