I just got a new Firestick 4k Max for a remote property and installed the Plex app and logged in to my account. Works as normal except it shows my server as live under “More” but when I click to open it I don’t get my content, just Plex Live TV or Watchlist or whatever. If I access Plex on my laptop or computer via the web browser the server content is there and works fine. Also, my other 2 Firesticks work fine and show and play the content but they are on the home network where the server lives, if that matters. What the heck is going on and is there a fix for this?
Reboot the firestick. For whatever reason if your router reboots the firestick doesn’t recognize the connection reset and as a result plex usually brakes until you force quit the app or reboot the firestick. Least that’s the case on my router.
Oh, I have rebooted the Stick several times. Makes no difference.
OK, turns out the Firestick has a ! next to the server. Here are two photos, the first is the TV with the Firestick and the second is on Plex on my laptop, on the same network wifi as the Firestick, that shows my recorded movies and TV shows… and also gets me my live TV from the HTPC TV tuner card. Everything works perfectly from the computer.
I have tried rebooting the Firestick several times. I have uninstalled the Plex app from and then reinstalled it back to the Firestick. No joy. I also used remoted desktop to log into the HTPC and restart the Plex server. Made no difference.

I got this issue solved. I forgot that I had disabled remote access in the Plex server since I have only accessed it remotely on my laptop or phone by logging into my local network via router VPN. So, I remoted into the server and enabled remote access and now connects properly to the Firestick.
I just found that I might be able to load the OpenVPN client to a Firestick and if I have the time I will try to set that up so I can disable remote access again and close the router port. If anyone here has done this, how did it work?
