I recently moved to a new residence with a different router. I still have no remote access. I have disabled anti-virus software and firewall protection but still no remote access. I am a newbie with making changes to my router settings but can follow instructions.
Depending on your ISP if it’s their supplied modem/router (e.g. Panoramic for Cox) you may need to disable “advanced security” (or something similarly named) from either the browser login to your modem/router or from an app depending on how they let you do so. And obviously also port forward whatever is necessary to the local IP for your device where your Plex server is on.
I now have remote access but now my apps don’t recognize the account where I store all my files. What step did I miss or need to change so my apps can see my files?
If this helps, I am getting an error message next to the server software version that states, “something went wrong. Please install manually.” Hope this helps solve my problem.
In Settings → General you should see “Server claimed by <e-mail_address>.”
That is the same e-mail address you use for Atlantasteven, correct?
Using Atlantasteven, can you login via hosted Plex Web, https://app.plex.tv/desktop/, and access server settings, see your libraries, play media, etc?
If so, you should be able to login to other Plex apps (mobile, Smart TV, etc) and see your libraries, play media, etc.
If you are logging in with a different Plex account (not Atlantasteven), you will need to share libraries with that account before it can see your movies, tv shows, etc.
The server claimed email is the same e-mail address I use for Atlantasteven.
My files are visible on laptop where I have the media server. However, all apps give the following error message, [media server name] is currently unavailable]”.
It seems the problem lies in the media server items being seen by my apps. I wonder if something happened when I changed settings on my router to get remote access.
And now I get an error message in general settings next to version 1.32.5.7210.
