A couple of months ago I was able to easily access Plex’s remote server through my phone’s IOS, but seemingly after a couple of updates it suddenly has stopped. I have a Pace 5268AC router and have gone through the process of forwarding to port 32440 several times. I’ve tried several other ports too. Nothing changes. A week ago I added a Google Wifi extender to my system but I don’t think that would present a complication to accessing the remote server. This is getting very frustrating, and after reading other current postings re: this issue I’m wondering if Plex’s software is the problem. Has anyone had any luck in solving this issue? I can’t understand why I was able to access the server on my IOS for months and then it just suddenly stopped connecting. As a Plex pass subscriber, I’m getting a little frustrated with the lack of technical support… there’s no way to access support directly either by phone or email. This forum is great for certain issues, but it’s extremely slow and you hope another member might be able to have an answer to your issue they’ll share with you… if they don’t, you’re s*** out of luck. I see a lot of postings where no one has responded at all.
Have you reviewed this post?
Is your Plex server hardwired?
Does your Plex server have a static IP?
The less complex your home network is the simpler it is to maintain this remote access.
I have had the same single port forwarded for years and it’s been stable…
My Plex server is hardwired. I have a static IP. Not that it matters, but I have service through Sonic, not AT&T. I’ve called tech support and asked them to talk me through this, but was informed they are primarily an internet service and adjusting my router for a Plex server is out of their hands.
I’ve gone through the post you referred (thanks, by the way… couldn’t find anything when I did a search on my router model two days ago) and I’m totally confused. The photos match my router’s, but although I’m able to create a Plex server, there’s no way it allows me to edit it. I’m a total novice to adapting a router, what is the poster referring to when he refers to my Plex server NIC ???
This is ridiculously complicated, especially since I was able to access the Plex server continuously a couple of months ago. I’ve just spent another two hours reading diagrams and referring to postings on this forum after spending almost a week fooling with my router. There’s got to be a faster and more effective way to do this.
Remote access can work in 2 ways, UPNP which requires no user configuration but is not stable and port forwarding which does require user configuration and is stable. Sounds like you had UPNP working and it stopped.
Having a static IP actually does matter when setting this up.
A NIC is just a Network Interface Card which is the physical interface on the machine Plex is running on.
Lets start at the beginning, Do you have a static IP assigned to the NIC on your Plex machine? If so what is it?
