New iOS app is terrible

Hi Everyone

This new app from plex is terrible, don’t update. The interface is now not user friendly at all.

You have to go hunting for playlists etc. I had to google it just to find where it was in the app

You can’t change your dashboard. So you have all this rubbish on your home page. You can add favorites but not the same as what you could do before

Huge step down in development! I use plex a lot and this has just been very un helpful!

Even the downloads section. It doesn’t put them in folders when you download. It just puts them all in one so you can’t easily tell what tv series you want to watch

Plex pass user and so disappointed

I honestly feel like the company has stolen from me. It’s pretty disgusting, they sold me a service, then replaced it with this trash. Really close to a bait and switch on their part, I really think its time for mass refunds from these morons.

This new app is absolute garbage, it doesn’t even manage music anymore? And the pictures are so large I can’t navigate my library? Really screwed this one up guys.

it’s hard to believe they replaced a fantastic app with this hunk of garbage. did they lose all their developers? no good software engineer would ever release such a huge pile of trash that this app is now. did they lose their product managers? did they lose their QA testers? no professional would sign off something so terrible. it seems like a high school or college kid made the app. it’s that big of a piece of junk fisher price toy.

It’s designed almost exclusively for streaming content, and I can’t find any of my own content, which is the only reason I use Plex. I’m really glad I didn’t buy a Plex Pass because that would have been wasted money. I’ll use the web version for the time being, and I hope that works well enough until I can find an alternative app to host my media.

Yes it is. Plex has been trying to add more streaming services for a while (mostly with dorky content that isn’t of much value) which was fine as a cute add-on. With this update they seem to have lost the plot and think we actually really wanted that feature.

I agree the new app has plenty of issues that should have been considered blockers to launch, and that is a few months of updates.

However, I will counter that with a different recall of the previous app, one that constantly crashed on iOS, where downloads were slow and more unstable, where external screens on iPad didn’t work and many more issues.

I have a feeling that in the new few releases, and only from a core feature and stability point of view, the new app will be better than old.

However from a UX and quality of use point of view, we have months or years to go,

It’s so unbelievably bad. I can’t watch anything streaming on my HOME WIFI connected to my server without an error message and when I hit retry the program starts over, so what I have to do is download whatever I’m watching, BUT then I have to disconnect from my WiFi because even the download will restart randomly. With this level of inconvenience I might as well watch programs from DropBox. I’ve been using Plex for ages and have several lifetime accounts. There have been hiccups in the past, but this is vomitous.
