I recently bought a new laptop and wiped my old. Reinstalled Plex and when I try to add a new library it appears to point to my NVIDIA SHIELD (I think?) sdcard, when I want to point it to my local laptop storage to add files. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to redirect it.
Any tips?
From what I gather from your post, the library is already created.
To make sure what it is pointing to go to the library, hit the three dots, manage library, edit, than advanced. It will show you there what that library is pointing to.
From there I believe you can click on “browse for media folder”. If plex is installed on your laptop, than just select the folder where your media would be located. Than hit save changes. From there you should be good to go and plex should be bringing in your media.

That is where I am running into trouble… “browse for media folder” defaults to “sdcard” location (on one of my Android devices) and I cannot change it. I try to manually add the folder location in the blank field and it still will not pull in any files.
Are you running Plex Media Server on both the Nvidia Shield and on the PC?
It looks like you’ve selected Plex Media Server on the Nvidia Shield instead of on your PC.
Make sure you have the correct Plex server selected when adding a library.
Go to Settings. Make sure you have the desired Server selected. Then click on Libraries in the Manages section.
Alternately, from your Plex home page, at the bottom of the list of libraries on the left, click on More >. You’ll see all the servers that are part of your account, along with the current libraries for each. Mouse over the desired server name and click the + sign on the right. Then proceed to add the desired library.
I cracked the case here I think…
For some reason Plex Media Server automatically launched on my SHIELD, probably after it detected it was no longer coming from my previous laptop. That was a couple months ago so my wife or toddler probably accidentally booted Plex during that time gap.
I got on my SHIELD and turned off the server, removed the server, then launched Plex Media Server fresh from my Laptop and was able to create a new server.
