Trying to add movies and Plex can't or doesn't browse for anything on my server!

Every time I hit the Movies, Edit, Add Folders, Browse For Media Folder all it sees is the /sdcard folder. I have 6 external hard drives including the C: drive on my laptop that it just won’t locate. It won’t browse any where outside of that /sdcard folder. Plex doesn’t see anything else other than that stupid folder. Help!!!

Have you reviewed the FAQs on how to set up a Plex Server? It sounds like you are trying to configure your Plex Server using a phone app. You have to use a web client to administer your Plex Server.

Highly recommend you visit the FAQ and Support Articles for more info.

Right, but I am using my laptop. I’ve reviewed enough FAQ’s. Nothing seems to pertain to my situation. Like you said, it sounds like I am using a phone app, but that’s the thing, I am NOT using a phone. I am using my laptop. Ideas?

More details would help like what device is your server running on etc.

It kind of sounds like you are using a Shield device and have not mounted the network storage for your media. But that is just a guess as the info provided is quite sparse.

Can you provide a screenshot of the ‘Add Folder’ dialog? Is the Plex server running on the laptop?

Have you tried typing in a path, rather than browsing?

Your server runs on an nVidia Shield device.
The shield cannot access hard drives on your laptop.

Unless of course the OP properly shares those drives and adds them as a network drive in the Shield settings.

You guys were right! It was running on the nVidia Shield. Which is weird though because Plex was installed and ran from my laptop! Oh well, the problem has been resolved. I deleted the Shield server and reinstalled Plex and it’s all fine and dandy now. Thanks for the help guys!!!1
